Parappanangadi is a small town in Tirurangadi taluk of Malappuram district, Kerala, India. It is a town located very near to the Arabian sea. Parappanangadi Railway station is one of the oldest railway stations in Kerala. It was a part of first Rail Route (Tirur-Beypore) in kerala.
Parappanangadi is one of the very beautiful and peace full village of kerala. This area was under the control of Parappanad Kingdom. In 1425, the country was divided into North Parappanad and South Parappanad. Parappanad Kingdom was the dependent of Zamorins of Calicut. In historical books it's given that in the middle of 18th centaury, Royal Family of Parappanad Kingdom, migrated into Travencore due to the invasion of Tippu.
BEM Higher Secondary School, Parappanangadi Co-operative College and SNM Higher Secondary School are the back born of Parappanangadi.

പരപ്പനങ്ങാടിയെക്കുറിച്ച്‌ ചുരുക്കത്തില്‍....

അറബിക്കടലിണ്റ്റെ തീരത്തോട്‌ തൊട്ടുരുമ്മി മലപ്പുറം ജില്ലയുടെ പടിഞ്ഞാറന്‍ അതിര്‍ത്തിയില്‍ വടക്ക്‌ വള്ളിക്കുന്ന്‌ പഞ്ചായത്തിനും തെക്ക്‌ താനൂറ്‍ പഞ്ചായത്തിനും കിഴക്ക്‌ തിരൂരങ്ങാടി പഞ്ചായത്തിനും ഇടയില്‍ 22.25 .കിമീറ്റര്‍ വിസ്തൃതിയില്‍ വ്യാപിച്ചുകിടക്കുന്ന പരപ്പനങ്ങാടിയുടെ ചരിത്രം. പ്രസിദ്ധമായ പരപ്പനാട്‌ കോവിലകവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടുകിടക്കുന്നു.
1664-സാമൂതിരിയുടെ ഭരണാതിര്‍ത്തിയില്‍ വരുന്നരാജ്യം തിക്കോടി മുതല്‍ ചേറ്റുവ വരെ ഇരുപത്‌ കാതമായിരുന്നു. മൈസൂറ്‍ സുല്‍ത്താന്‍ ഹൈദരാലിയുടെ മലബാര്‍ ആക്രമണത്തെ തുടര്‍ന്ന്‌ സാമൂതിരിയുടെ അധീനത്തിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന പ്രദേശത്തിണ്റ്റെ ഉടമാവകാശം മൈസൂരിനായി. ശ്രീരംഗപട്ടണം ഉടമ്പടിയനുസരിച്ച്‌ മൈസൂരിണ്റ്റെ ആധിപത്യത്തിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന പ്രദേശങ്ങളുടെ മേല്‍ക്കോയ്മാവകാശം ഇംഗ്ളീഷ്‌ ഈസ്റ്റിന്ത്യാ കമ്പനിയില്‍ ലയിച്ചു.
1792-‍ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ ഒരു ഒത്തുതീര്‍പ്പ്പ്രകാരം പരപ്പനാട്‌ ദേശം പതിനായിരംരൂപ മൊത്തപ്പാട്ടത്തിന്‌ വീരവര്‍മ്മരാജക്ക്‌ ചാര്‍ത്തികൊടുത്തു. പരപ്പനാട്‌ വംശത്തിണ്റ്റെ മൂലസ്വരൂപം മേക്കോട്ടയില്‍ കോവിലകമായിരുന്നു ക്ഷത്രിയ വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ പ്പെട്ടഇവര്‍ മരുമക്കത്തായം ദായക്രമമായി അംഗീകരിച്ചുപോന്നു.
പരപ്പനങ്ങാടി ബേപ്പൂറ്‍ കിളിമാനൂറ്‍ എന്നിങ്ങനെ മൂന്നു താവഴികളായി പിരിഞ്ഞു. പരപ്പനാട്‌ രാജയുടെ അതിര്‍ത്തിപടിഞ്ഞാറ്‌ പൂരപ്പുഴ മുതല്‍ ചാലിയം വരേയും വെളിമുക്ക്‌, ഒളകര എന്നീ പ്രദേശങ്ങളും ഉള്‍പ്പെട്ടതായിരുന്നു. പൂരപ്പുഴ മുതല്‍ ചാലിയം വരെ തെക്കേ പരപ്പനാട്‌ എന്നും ബേപ്പൂറ്‍ മുതല്‍ വടക്കന്‍ പരപ്പനാട്‌ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെട്ടു. രാജവംശത്തിണ്റ്റെ ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ അവകാശികള്‍ ഹരിപ്പാട്‌ അനന്തപുരം കൊട്ടാരത്തിലും മാവേലിക്കര ലക്ഷ്മിപുരം കൊട്ടാരത്തിലുമായി താമസിച്ചുവരുന്നുപരപ്പനാട്‌ വംശത്തിണ്റ്റെ കേന്ദ്രം വള്ളിക്കുന്ന്‌ തട്ടാരു കോവിലകം ആയിരുന്നു പിന്നീടത്‌ നിറംകൈതക്കോട്ടയുടെ ഭാഗത്തേക്ക്‌ മാറ്റി. ഇത്‌ നാട്ടുകൂട്ടങ്ങളുടെ ഒരു സംഗമസ്ഥാനം കൂടിയായിരുന്നു. വെണ്ണായൂര്‌, ഇളന്നുമ്മല്‍, പാപ്പനൂര്‌ എന്നിവയായിരുന്നു അന്നത്തെ നാട്ടുകൂട്ടങ്ങള്‍. നിറംകൈതക്കോട്ടയില്‍ സമ്മേളിച്ച്‌ ഈനാട്ടുകൂട്ടങ്ങള്‍ ക്ഷേത്രകാര്യങ്ങള്‍ ചര്‍ച്ചചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു. ഇതില്‍ ഒരു ശാഖ പിന്നീട്‌ പരപ്പനങ്ങാടിയിലേക്ക്‌ കുടിയേറി. പരപ്പനാട്‌ വലിയ കോവിലകം എന്ന പേരില്‍. ഇവരുടെ ആരാധനാമൂര്‍ത്തി പിഷാരിക്കല്‍ ദുര്‍ഗ്ഗാഭഗവതി യായിരുന്നു നമ്പൂതിരിമാരുടെ ആഗമനത്തോടെയാണ്‌ കാര്‍ഷിക വ്യവസ്ഥ നിലവില്‍ വരുന്നത്‌. ഇല്ലങ്ങളുടെ പ്രസക്തി ക്രമേണ നഷ്ടപ്പെടുകയും ഈ സ്വത്തുക്കള്‍ പരപ്പനാട്‌ കോവിലകത്തേക്ക്‌ ലയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. അടുത്തകാലം വരെ കോവിലകം കൊട്ടാരവും ഊട്ടുപ്പുരയും കുളിപ്പുരയും നെടുവ യു.പി. സ്കൂളിന്‌ കിഴക്കുവശം ആറേക്കര്‍ വിസ്തൃതിയില്‍ ജീര്‍ണ്ണിച്ച്‌ കാട്‌ പിടിച്ചനിലയില്‍ നിലനിന്നിരുന്നു ഇപ്പോള്‍ അവകാശികള്‍ ഭൂമി മുറിച്ച്‌ വിറ്റ്‌ അടയാളങ്ങള്‍ പോലും ശേഷിപ്പില്ലാത്തവിധം മാറ്റപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. കോവിലകത്തിണ്റ്റെ തൊട്ടടുത്ത്‌ തന്നെ പരപ്പനാട്‌ കോവിലകം ഇംഗ്ളീഷ്‌ മീഡിയം ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി സ്കൂള്‍ മാത്രമാണ്‌. രാജവംശത്തിണ്റ്റെ ഓര്‍മ്മ നിലനിര്‍ത്തുന്ന ഏകസ്ഥാപനം.
